Members of the Hillsboro City Council and Administration disagree on what township residents should have to pay for fire and EMS coverage, especially compared to what the citizens of Hillsboro pay. 

Council's finance committee met Thursday evening, at the request of Hillsboro Safety and Service Director Ralph Holt to discuss numbers associated with providing the coverage to Hamer, Jackson, Liberty, New Market, Paint and Washington townships. 

Highland County Airport Authority President Dan Cowdrey provided an update on a number of airport-related issues to the Highland County commissioners at their June 22 board meeting.

The first female Highland County Prosecuting Attorney, Anneka Collins, was sworn into office Wednesday in the Highland County Common Pleas Courtroom, full of friends, family, elected officials, court employees and law enforcement personnel.
  Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss introduced Collins, who was appointed to the office by the Central Committee of the Highland County Republican Party on June 15. Former Prosecutor Jim Grandey retired from the office in May.

The arrests were the result of an ongoing investigation by detectives with the Highland County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. 23 Major Crimes Taskforce, and the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office into heroin trafficking taking place in the area.

Several defendants in pending, unrelated cases appeared Tuesday before Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss.
  • Kevin Dehaas, 21, of Hillsboro, appeared for a final pretrial hearing on one charge of aggravated vehicular homicide.

Anneka Collins, newly appointed Highland County Prosecuting Attorney, will be sworn into office Wednesday.
  Collins will take the oath of office Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Highland County Common Pleas Courtroom.

The Highland County Historical Society has teamed up with the Highland County Board of Commissioners to fund a refurbishment project at the Highland County Courthouse.
 The commissioners have requested estimates and specifications from Legacy Restoration and Construction out of Washington C.H.

Lighting candles on a six-foot tall birthday "cake," the "kampers", organizers, supporters and volunteers of KAMP Dovetail celebrated 30 years of Kids And Motivated People with tears, cheers and fireworks.

   Rudolph was among those who guests honored and recognized during the birthday celebration and received a standing ovation from the crowd and kampers during his introduction.
