    There were times Tuesday night at Grandle Gymnasium where emotions were high. There were also times where the outcome of the basketball game was the last thing on the minds of fans at Fairfield High School. But once the final seconds of overtime ticked off the scoreboard, it was the Whiteoak Wildcats who were the winners, defeating the Fairfield Lions, 55-49, for the Southern Hills League win.

    A play designed during the final time out was perfected by the Whiteoak Wildcats, Friday night against the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs. The play helped cap off a double-digit second half comeback, giving the Wildcats their first win of the season (a Southern Hills League win), 48-45 at LCHS.

Prior to the opening tipoff, the North Adams gymnasium paused for a moment of silence in honor of fallen U.S. Marine Luke Scott of Adams County, who lost his life in the war in Afghanistan this week.
