McClain and Hillsboro girls track teams run in day one of districts

WASHINGTON C.H. — The first day of the Division II SE District Track and Field meet was held Tuesday at Washington Senior High School, with prelim events being held, along with some final events taking place.
The finals will be held Saturday, May 22 at WSHS.
In the girls' 4x800-meter relay, Logan Elm won with a time of 9:50.21. HHS was ninth at 11:07.87. The Lady Indian team consisted of Taylar Bell, Taylor Stanforth, Brittany Ferrell and Jamie Gustin. McClain placed 13th with a time of 11:59.41. Running for MHS were Elizabeth Prayner, Gretta Reyer, Kelly Mustard and Caitlynn Anderson.
In the prelims of the 100m hurdles Hillsboro's Leah Pence has the second fastest time at 16.78. McClain's Sarah Upp was 14th at 18.68. Kayla Savage (HHS) finished 16th at 18.99 as all three runners qualified for the semifinals.
In the semifinals, Pence was second at 16.48, qualifying for the finals on Saturday. Upp finished 12th at 18.48 and Savage was 13th at 18.57.
The 100m dash prelims had Holly Fouch (HHS) finish fourth with a time of 13.59. Felicity Peabody (MHS) had the eighth quickest finish (14.09), and Hillsboro's Amelia Gustin was ninth. Kayla Crabtree (MHS) also ran in the event, placing 22nd.
In the 100m semifinal, Fouch ran away with the quickest time at 13.26. Peabody was third with a time of 13.53, and Amelia Gustin was sixth at 13.63, as all three runners qualified for the final this weekend.
The prelims of the 4x200m relay had McClain at fifth with a time of 1:54.41. Running for the Lady Tigers were Felicity Peabody, Sarah Upp, Kaitlyn Faulconer and Taylor Faulconer. Hillsboro was ninth at 1:57.34. The HHS team consisted of Tayler Hauke, Taylor Stanforth, Brittany Ferrell and Leah Pence.
The 4x100m relay prelims had HHS in fourth with a final time of 53.81. Runners for the Lady Indians were Amelia Gustin, Leah Pence, Tayler Hauke and Holly Fouch. In the same event MHS (Kaitlyn Faulconer, Tia Mitchell, Sammy Rooks and Sarah Upp) was 13th.
During the prelims of the 400m dash, Felicity Peabody (MHS) was seventh at 1:04.72 to qualify for the finals. Brittany Ferrell (HHS) was 11th with a time of 1:05.53.
In the 300m hurdles event, McClain's Taylor Faulconer had the fastest prelim time of 49.88. Taylor Stanforth (HHS) finished with a time of 54.68 for the 11th spot.
Holly Fouch had the fastest time during the 200m dash prelim at 27.72. Felicity Peabody (MHS) was seventh at 29.64.
In the semifinal, Fouch was first again at 27.69. Peabody was fifth at 28.01.
For the prelims of the 4x400m relay HHS was ninth and MHS was 12th. HHS had a time of 4:32.11 and MHS finished at 4:38.02.
In the finals of the high jump, Hannah Patton had a height of 4-06.00 for eighth place.
The shot put finals had Amelia Gustin (HHS) at 30-09.00 for 13th. Sarah Elranjaoui was 18th at 28-05.75 and Hillsboro's Sidney Applegate was 23rd at 25-06.00.
