Indians fall to Ross in State Duals Region 15 final

The Hillsboro Indians wrestling team's run in the inaugural State Duals Tournament came to an end on Wednesday as they finished Region 15 runners-up, falling to Ross High School, 46-24.
HHS, who defeated three schools to reach the finals, won five matches on the evening at RHS.
Winning for HHS were Brandon Carter (106), Matt West (113), Ryan Kelley (126), Kordell Ford (152) and Skylar Murphy (220).
Carter, a senior, won with a pin over Aaron Cox at 4:57 at 106 pounds. Junior Matt West followed with a 10-5 decision over Brendan Williams, a freshman, at 113 pounds.

Kelley, a junior, won his 126-pound match over Austin Russell, who is also a junior, by a 12-6 decision at 152 pounds.
Ford, a junior, defeated Ross junior Andrew Dunn by pin fall at 2:55. The final HHS win came with Murphy, a sophomore, winning over Frank Heimkreiter, a senior, by default.
In other matches for HHS, sophomore Toby Warrington (113) lost by an 8-2 decision, sophomore Cody Whaley fell by a major decision at 132 pounds, senior Craig Jackson lost by pin fall at 138 and freshman Curran Butler lost by pin fall at 145.
Senior Connor Johnston lost by a 5-3 decision at 160 pounds, senior Darian Schumacher lost by pin fall at 170 pounds, senior Drew Huffman lost by pin fall at 182, sophomore Jordan Mosley lost by pin fall in the 195-pound weight class and junior Jesse Hale lost by pin fall at 285 pounds.
