Indians end season in Circleville

CIRCLEVILLE - The Hillsboro Indians were unable to capitalize twice in the late innings during its Division II SE District Sectional semifinal at Circleville Monday evening. Having the bases jammed twice in the final two innings, HHS was unable to score runners, ending its season against the Tigers by a score of 9-4.
The Indians (13-8, 8-4) finished the season as South Central Ohio League co-champions with the McClain Tigers. MHS won its sectional semifinal against the Washington Blue Lions Monday at Mitchell Park, setting up a sectional final game with the Circleville Tigers this Thursday in Greenfield.
As for the Indians Monday, they out-hit the Circleville Tigers 13 to 9 and were perfect in the field with no errors. The dagger into the Tribe's season was runners left on base. HHS left a grand total of 11 runners on the bases.
With HHS unable to score runs, Circleville took advantage by scoring eight runs in the first three innings, including a six-run second inning along with two one-run innings in the first and third.
HHS scored its first two runs in the fourth with Dow Kiefer hitting a single and Logan Watson forcing a walk. The runs were scored when Logan Wilson hit an RBI single to score Kiefer and Patrick Garman singled in Watson. Both runs came with two outs.
After Circleville took a 9-2 lead, HHS added its final two in the top of the seventh with two runs.
Corey Walker hit a single, followed with base hits by Brandon Wilson and Carroll. Paul Snyder hit a sacrifice fly to score Walker, and Wilson scored on a base hit by Kiefer.
Walker finished 3-for-4 with one run. Brandon Wilson was 2-for-3 with one run. Kiefer and Snyder were each 2-for-4. Aric Carroll, Airic Steagall, Logan Wilson and Patrick Garman each had one hit.
The loss was charged to Garrett Bell. He went 1 2-3 innings, allowing seven runs on six hits, two walks and one hit batter. He finished with two strikeouts.
Brandon Wilson pitched 1 1-3 innings in relief. Wilson allowed one run and one hit, along with striking out one batter. Steagall pitched 3 1-3 innings of the mound in relief. Steagall struck out five batters, allowing one run on one hit and two walks.
HHS wraps up the season at 13-8 overall.
