Indians 3rd, Lady Indians 5th at district cross-country championships

The Hillsboro Indians boys cross-country team placed third, and the Lady Indians were fifth in their respective Division II SE District races Saturday at the University of Rio Grande.
HHS totaled a team time of 1:31:15.10. Winning the team event was Unioto at 1:28:12.13, followed by Vinton County with a time of 1:29:29.10.
Rounding out the remainder of the standings from fourth place on were: Athens, Westfall, Fairfield-Union, Jackson, Logan Elm, Miami Trace and New Lexington.
DeAndre Steward led the Indians with a fourth-place finish (17:24), followed by Joe Beery in ninth at 17:50.
HHS had two more runners finish in the Top 30 in Nathan Boone in 17th (18:01) and Zach Middleton (18:49).
Also racing for HHS were: Gabriel Tamborski (19:09), Paul Burton (19:14) and Guy Bailey (20:08).
The McClain Tigers also ran in the race but did not field a full team. For MHS, Tristan Smith led the Tigers with a time of 23:16.
Also racing for MHS were Daniel Addington (23:31), Micah Mootispaw (24:59) and Preston Smith (25:53).

The Hillsboro Lady Indians placed fifth overall in the Division II race with a time of 1:53:55.47.
Winning the girls race was Fairland with a team time of 1:43:51.82. Following them were Athens in second, Unioto in third and Alexander in fourth.
Following HHS were Fairfield-Union, Logan Elm, Vinton County, Miami Trace and River Valley.
McClain did not field a full team.
Leading HHS was Alissa Hauke in 21st with a time of 21:45.
Reaghan Haines was 24th at 22:13, Brittany Ferrell finished 27th (22:32) and Ceairra Neal raced to a 29th-place finish (23:07).
Also running for HHS were: Madi St. Clair (24:16), Hannah Opst (24:56) and Lizzie Tamborski (25:57).
For the McClain Lady Tigers, Sarah Davis finished with a time of 26:44.
