Hillsboro volleyball defeats Fayetteville, Akers earns 500th career dig in recent matches

The following are recaps from recent Hillsboro volleyball matches.


Hillsboro vs. Fayetteville
 
In their Volley for a Cure game, the Hillsboro Lady Indians faced the Fayetteville Lady Rockets, where HHS won in four sets. 

HHS won set one at 25-23, followed by a set two win of 25-20. Fayetteville won the third set at 27-25, and in the fourth set it was Hillsboro winning at 25-15, giving them the non-conference match.

Cora Akers totaled 19 kills, three aces, six blocks and 19 digs. Teammate Brynli Labig finished with four digs. Jolee Cummings had five kills and one block. Samantha Tipton ended the match with 17 kills and three digs.

Mya Bell totaled two aces, eight kills and 12 digs in the win. Addison Huff led HHS with 46 assists and also had 15 digs. Lexie Swayne finished with two aces and five digs.

Also for HHS, Camryn Spruell had four kills and two blocks. Halle Reveal finished with one ace and 13 digs, and teammate Chloe Masslow ended with two aces and five digs.

Hillsboro at Washington 

The Hillsboro Lady Indians won on the road in a FAC match on Tuesday, Oct. 4 by scores of 25-15, 25-19 and 25-22 against the host Washington Lady Blue Lions. 

Hillsboro’s Cora Akers totaled 12 kills, two aces, three blocks and 19 digs as she earned her 500th career varsity dig. 

Sam Tipton had nine kills and three blocks. 

Brynli Labig finished with two kills and two digs. Jolee Cummings had one kill and one block. Camryn Spruell earned one kill, six digs and one block.

Addison Huff finished with two aces, 22 assists and 20 digs, while teammate Chloe Masslow ended the game with nine digs.

Also for the Lady Indians, Halle Reveal had two aces and 17 digs, while Mya Bell finished with one ace, three kills and nine digs. Lexie Swayne ended the match with seven digs.

Hillsboro at Western Brown 

Going on the road Monday, Oct. 3, the Lady Indians of Hillsboro High School lost in three sets to the host Western Brown Lady Broncos by scores of 25-21, 25-12 and 25-15. 

Sam Tipton totaled seven kills in the non-conference game, while Cora Akers finished with five kills, one block and 12 digs. Mya Bell had three kills, one ace and 10 digs.

Addison Huff totaled 11 digs and 16 assists, while Halle Reveal had seven digs and one assist. Chloe Masslow totaled five digs and one ace. Camryn Spruell and Lexie Swayne each had one ace and three digs.

Brynli Labig and Jolee Cummings each finished with one kill and one dig.

Hillsboro at Waverly

On Saturday, Oct. 1, the Lady Indians fell in three sets to the Waverly Lady Tigers by scores of 25-13, 25-18 and 25-14. 

For the Lady Indians, Cora Akers had eight kills, two blocks, and digs. Sam Tipton had three kills, four blocks and six digs.

Addy Huff led HHS with 15 assists, and she had seven digs. Chloe Masslow ended the game with seven digs and one ace.

Jolee Cummings finished with two blocks, while Brynli Labig had one kill, and two blocks. Also for HHS, Lexie Swayne had five digs, Halle Reveal three digs, and Mya Bell collected four kills and five digs.

Hillsboro vs. Chillicothe

In a FAC game played at Hillsboro High School on Thursday, Sept. 29 the Lady Indians lost to the Chillicothe Lady Cavaliers by scores of 25-22, 25-20 and 25-18.

Hillsboro’s Cora Akers finished with 13 kills, six blocks and 10 digs, and fellow HHS Lady Indians teammate Brynli Labig had five kills and one block.

Jolee Cummins totaled one kill and five blocks. Sam Tipton collected three kills and six blocks. Mya Bell finished with three kills and 16 digs. Addison Huff had one kill, 20 assists, one ace and one block.

Camryn Spruell finished with nine digs, while Halle Reveal ended with two aces. Hillsboro’s Chloe Masslow collected two aces and four digs.
