Hillsboro bowling team 8th at Div. I state tournament

The 2022-23 Hillsboro Indians boys bowling team competed at the Division I OHSAA State Bowling Championships this past weekend at Wayne Webb's Columbus Bowl, where they placed in the Top 8 and made the championship round of eight. 

The Indians placed eighth overall out of the 16 teams in the event, as they fell to No. 1 seeded Hilliard Davidson (HHS was the No. 8 seed in the bracket). HHS won the first match at 187-181, then lost the next three by scores of 181-149, 244-202 and 246-169.

The eventual state champion in Division I was Beavercreek. 

In the qualifying round, the Indians were eighth place with a team total of 3,399. In game one, they totaled 1,011 pins, followed by game two at 961 and game three at 894 for a three-game total of 2,866 pins. In the Baker rounds, the Indians had totals of 192, 179 and 162 for a score of 533. 

Hillsboro’s highest finisher was senior Zach Ison with a total of 629 for 23rd place overall out of 98 bowlers. 

Next for Hillsboro was sophomore Andrew Tomko in 45th place with a score of 584. He was followed by HHS senior Shaun Rodgers in 46th place with a score of 581.

In 48th place was junior Kayden Gall with a score of 579. Hillsboro sophomore Austin Bledsoe rounded out the Indians’ scoring with a 74th-place finish as he collected a score of 493.

The individual state champion was Beavercreek junior Carson Shroyer with a 707 score.
