The following are recaps from Hillsboro and Fairfield girls soccer games for Oct. 12.

THURSDAY, OCT. 12, 2023

Fairfield girls soccer falls to Jackson

In a non-conference game Thursday night the Fairfield Lady Lions battled tough with the champions of the Frontier Athletic Conference, falling by a 2-1 score at Jackson.

Fairfield’s lone goal was scored by Kennedy Zink with an unassisted goal.

At goal for Fairfield was Claire Newkirk, who totaled five saves.

This season, the Lady Lions finished in second place in the SHAC with a 5-1-0 record, and they are currently 11-3-1 overall.

Fairfield has one final regular-season game on Saturday, Oct. 14 at home against the Zane Trace Lady Pioneers with a 10 a.m. start.

The Lady Lions start their postseason on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at home against the Piketon Redstreaks in the sectional finals, starting at 6 p.m. at FHS.

Hillsboro Lady Indians dominate Piketon

The Hillsboro Lady Indians finished their regular season with a dominating non-conference win against the Piketon Redstreaks, winning by a 14-1 score.

The Lady Indians saw Rylie Scott score a goal first, which was assisted by Hannah Holland.

Next was a goal by Addy Miles that was assisted by Liz Sowders.

Taylor Thoroman scored Hillsboro’s third goal, which was also assisted by Sowders.

Peighton Bledsoe scored Hillsboro’s fourth goal with an unassisted goal, and the fifth HHS goal was by Holland with the assist by Sowders, for her third assist of the game.

Bledsoe scored her second goal (Hillsboro’s sixth) with the assist from Scott, and the next two goals were scored by Kobie Miles, assisted by Scott and Bledsoe.

The rest of Hillsboro’s goals were unassisted, scored by Brooklyn Lucarello, Madisyn Hollen, Gracie Thoroman, Scott, Meredith Dietrick and Sowders.

Hillsboro is 7-10 overall, and they finished the FAC season at 5-5, fourth place in the conference.
