Wenstrup, McEwen meet with business, government officials

Second Congressional District candidate Dr. Brad Wenstrup and former Congressman Bob McEwen attended a roundtable breakfast forum with local business, education and government representatives at Vickie's Restaurant in Hillsboro Thursday.
McEwen, who represented Highland County in Ohio's Sixth Congressional District for six terms, is accompanying Wenstrup during local stops in Hillsboro and at the Union Stock Yards later today.
Wenstrup defeated Republican incumbent Jean Schmidt in the March primary race for Ohio's Second Congressional District. He will face Democrat William R. Smith of Pike County in the Nov. 6 general election.
In addition to his medical practice, Wenstrup received an officer’s commission with the U.S. Army Reserve in 1998, serving in the Medical Service Corps. In 2005, he deployed for a year of active duty in Iraq where he served as a combat surgeon with the 344th Combat Support Hospital.
Joining Wenstrup and McEwen were officials from area business, manufacturing and farm operations, Southern State Community College, Highland District Hospital and city and county government.
