USDA acreage reporting deadline nears

By
-

Highland County farmers have until July 16 to report their 2012 spring planted acreage to the Farm Service Agency (FSA) according to Jim Patton, director of the local FSA office.

Farmers are required to file an acreage report each year to maintain their eligibility for USDA programs such as the Direct and Counter Cyclical Payment Program (DCP) and the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP).

When filing their report, farmers must provide the crop acreage, field location, and planting date.

Crops to be reported by the July 16th deadline include Corn, Soybeans, Hay, and CRP acreage.

Producers are encouraged to contact the FSA office to schedule and appointment to complete the acreage reporting process. Ph. 393-1921.
