A 17-year-old male was behind the wheel of this 1997 Honda when he lost control in front of Trinity Church on N. Washington St. in Greenfield, at approximately 9:15 p.m. Monday.

The car careened off the road and slid sideways into a utility pole, snapping the pole in half. According to officers on scene, speed and wet roads appear to be a factor in the crash.

Officers said the teenager was awake and talking immediately after the crash and was pulled to safety by a passerby who noticed the car and saw what appeared to be smoke coming from it.

EMS and fire personnel from Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire were on the scene and transported the lone victim to the landing zone behind the squad building. Care Flight of Miami Valley out of Dayton arrived within a few minutes and flew him to Miami Valley trauma center.

The accident remains under investigation.
