Storer was nominated by Dr. David Cohen, physician and medical director of Emergency Services, who describes Storer as a person who goes above and beyond her duties. “One example is when she took time away from her family and came in on Christmas Eve when the ED was busy.” says Dr. Cohen. “She is a patient advocate and nurse advocate as well as a mentor to many nurses in the ED.”

Storer has been with CMH since 1987 and manager of Emergency Services since 2008She is a graduate of Shawnee State University.

Each quarter one nurse will be selected from nominations by CMH’s nursing administration to receive The DAISY Award.

The not-for-profit DAISY Foundation is based in Glen Ellen, Calif., and was established by family members in memory of J. Patrick Barnes.  Patrick died at the age of 33 in late 1999 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), a little known but not uncommon auto-immune disease.  The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique means of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.
