Report finds ODJFS failed in grant oversight
In the last of a series of three reports, the inspector general has issued a report of investigation finding the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Office of Workforce Development failed to adequately oversee a $1 million federal grant applied to the Constructing Futures jobs training initiative for southwest Ohio.
Over one quarter, or $255,000 of all expenditures for the southwest Ohio program were questioned by the inspector general.
Similar reports of investigation were completed for central Ohio in September and northwest Ohio in March.
The series was initiated in compliance with a 2009 act of the 128th Ohio General Assembly requiring the Ohio Inspector General to monitor the expenditure of federal funds received by the state government under the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009.
The matter has been forwarded to the U.S. Department of Labor and the Ohio Auditor of State, the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, and the Ohio Department of Taxation, for further consideration.
