Ohio EPA awards $100,740 to West Farmington to improve water quality
West Farmington is receiving more than $100,000 in H2Ohio funding for improvements to its finished water storage tank.
Ohio EPA Director Anne Vogel announced the award recently, which is part of Governor DeWine’s H2Ohio initiative to improve water quality across the state. The West Farmington project includes cleaning, disinfecting and installing a tank mixer. This will provide the needed storage capacity for the village, help control bacteria in the water and create a more resilient water system.
“This is another perfect example of Gov. DeWine’s vision for H2Ohio,” Vogel said. “This is what it’s designed to do; to get money in the hands of municipalities that need that extra help to be able to get projects over the finish line to provide the best, healthiest options for Ohioans and their families.”
Governor Mike DeWine launched the H2Ohio program in 2019 to provide a long-term investment in Ohio’s water quality. H2Ohio’s focus is on encouraging agricultural best management practices, restoring wetlands and improving infrastructure to reduce nutrients that contribute to harmful algal blooms.
