On July 1, attorney Daniel Griffith began his term as 2024-25 president of the Ohio State Bar Association. A resident of North Canton, Griffith served as an officer of the bar association in the post of president-elect for the 2023-24 bar year.
“I am honored to serve as president of the Ohio Bar this year and to carry forward the great work of my predecessors and my amazing colleagues on the Ohio Bar Board of Governors,” Griffith said. “The Ohio Bar has been an essential element in my legal career from the very beginning. It is a privilege to lead the association as we continue our work to ensure access to justice for all Ohioans and advance the legal profession.”
Griffith is the senior vice president and director of wealth strategy at Huntington Private Bank. In this role, he oversees a team of advisors specializing in ultra-high net worth clients. He provides valuable insights to clients and presents on topics such as asset preservation, gift and estate taxation and business succession strategies.
Throughout his career, Griffith has maintained a strong involvement with the Ohio Bar. Prior to becoming president, he was elected to two terms on the Board of Governors as the representative for District 14, which includes Carroll, Tuscarawas and Stark counties. He has also served on the bar’s Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law Section Council where he was instrumental in developing and lobbying for numerous improvements to Ohio’s trust and probate code.
In his community, Griffith was elected to serve a six-year term on the North Canton City Council in 2011 as an at-large member. He serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Akron, teaching estate and gift tax classes. Griffith is also a member of the Stark County Bar Association and has served on the boards of the North Canton Library, the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Alliance High School Foundation, Guardianship Support Services and Copeland Oaks, a local retirement community.
Griffith earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Mount Union and his law degree from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. He resides in North Canton with his wife Marci and their four children.
Griffith will head the 2024-25 leadership team made up of the association’s Chief Executive Officer Mary Amos Augsburger, Immediate Past-President Michelle Kranz (Toledo) and President-Elect William G. Chris (Akron).
