Lynchburg woman in critical condition in Vermont hospital
A 28-year-old Lynchburg woman is reportedly in critical condition after jumping from the cab of a moving northbound tractor-trailer truck on Vermont Highway 22A in Benson, Vt.
The Burlington Free Press (www.burlingtonfreepress.com) reports:
"Troopers say Elizabeth Lyons of Lynchburg, Ohio, jumped from the vehicle as it rounded a curve at about 1:30 a.m. Friday. She was found a short time later with a severe head injury and taken to Rutland Regional Medical Center, state police spokeswoman Stephanie Dasaro said. Lyons was transferred to Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, where she was admitted to the intensive care unit, a spokeswoman said.
"Dasaro said Lyons was a passenger in the tractor-trailer driven by Robert Simpson, 51, also of Lynchburg, who stopped to look for Lyons after she jumped. Simpson told authorities that Lyons had said she planned to jump.
"She was found a short time later by police responding to the scene after they received a call from another motorist."
The incident remains under investigation.
