Ohio House Democrats, Press Release

House Minority Leader Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) Saturday congratulated former State Rep. Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park) for being appointed Hamilton County auditor.

“Rep. Miranda’s time at the Statehouse will have a lasting impact. Championing issues for women and survivors of sexual violence, she worked tirelessly every day to improve the lives of her constituents in the #Great28,” said Leader Russo. “We are excited for her new opportunity to serve as Hamilton County auditor, honoring the wish of her dear friend Brigid Kelly. We wish her success in her new role. She will be extremely missed by many.”

The former Democratic minority whip Saturday morning resigned effective immediately from the Ohio House of Representatives before the Hamilton County Board of Commissioners appointed her as the new county auditor.

“It is an honor to step into the role of Hamilton County auditor. I am excited for this new challenge and to work for the people of Hamilton County,” said Auditor Miranda. “I have mixed emotions about leaving the people’s house. These past five years have been extremely rewarding and it has been an honor and privilege representing the people of the #Great28. I have passed meaningful legislation in less than desirable circumstances because I’m willing to work across the aisle to get things done for the people of Ohio. This commitment will continue in my new role.

“Auditor Kelly was a true public servant, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue her work and to serve Hamilton County in this new role.”

House Democrats will soon announce a screening panel for filling the House District 28 vacancy.
