On July 26, the Hillsboro Police Department received a report of a burglary in the 600 block of South East Street in Hillsboro. The resident advised that while she was asleep, someone entered her house and had stolen her property. Prescription medications, jewelry, makeup bag and coins were taken. After an investigation, charges were filed on Brittany L. Baker, 26, of Hillsboro and Jason M. Seward, 29, of Hillsboro. Baker was charged with receiving stolen property, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Seward was charged with burglary, a felony of the fourth degree. Both subjects were booked into Highland County Justice Center.

On July 29, the Hillsboro Police Department received a call of a theft from a motor vehicle. The vehicle was parked on a vehicle repair lot in the 100 block of West Walnut Street. A stereo and gauges were taken. Damage was done to the factory molding in the process of the theft. This case remains under investigation.
The Hillsboro Police Department received a call from the Days Inn in Hillsboro. The manager of Days Inn advised that guests had been receiving calls from an outside line, requesting personal information. This remains under investigation.
