Highland County Firefighters Association hosts EMS training

By
-

On Thursday, Aug. 23, the Highland County Firefighters Association sponsored an EMS training session on the topic of Pediatric Sports Injuries instructed by Jennifer Lakeburg, (RN, MSN, CPNP-AL Clinical Flight Nurse), of UC AirCare and MobileCare in Cincinnati.

The session was held at the Hillsboro Fire Station, and was open to all area EMS personnel.

The session was also attended by representatives of HDH Sports Medicine.

This session, originally scheduled for July, is a timely training for area EMS personnel with the beginning of Football and Soccer seasons.

This session covered the differences in anatomy and physiology of the pediatric patient, as well as symptoms, and treatment of various injuries commonly incurred in physical sports contact.

The Highland County Firefighters Association provides monthly fire and EMS training opportunities for its member departments through fundraising events and donations received, including the annual Kroger classic car show held last month at Hobart.

Member departments include all Highland County Fire/EMS agencies as well as Fayetteville, Bainbridge, Peebles and New Vienna.
