Harlem Wizards coming to Fairfield

The Leesburg Lions Club is hosting the Harlem Wizards for a fun evening of basketball on Monday, Nov. 5, at the Fairfield Local High School gymnasium.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. with the game beginning at 7 p.m.

The Wizards combine basketball talent with hilarious comedy, tricks and fancy teamwork.

The event will include lots of fun and laughs, along with a halftime show with hundreds of kids on the court, plus a postgame autograph session.

Competing against the Wizards will be the “Highland County Hoopsters,” a team made up of players from Leesburg, Hillsboro and Greenfield.

The team includes: Raymond Friend (Fairfield middle school teacher), Kevin Stuckey (Leesburg Church of Christ pastor), Deanne Miller (Fairfield Elementary School Principal), Nathan Van Winkle (Fairfield’s all-time leading scorer), Victor Bartodej (FHS teacher), Sharon Harris (Fairfield Elementary teacher), Jarrod Haines (Greenfield teacher and coach), Ryan Reeve (Greenfield chiropractor), Bobbi Hurt (Greenfield teacher), Tim Davis (Hillsboro principal), Jacob Zink (Hillsboro Elementary School principal), Tirrell Cumberland (HHS standout and SSCC all-time leading scorer), Darci Miles (Hillsboro teacher), and Mary Cyrus (Highland UMC pastor).

A few more players may be added to the team.

Corporate sponsor of the event is Southern Hills Community Bank and tickets are now available at all three of their locations.

Tickets are also available at the three locations of Merchants National Bank in Hillsboro or online at www.harlemwizards.com. Ticket prices are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. There will only be 900 tickets available for sale, so the public is encouraged to get tickets in advance.
