Hamilton Post investigating 2-vehicle, double-fatal crash

The Hamilton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle double-fatal crash that occurred Saturday, May 20 at approximately 11:36 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 48 and East Lytle Five Points Road in Clearcreek Township, Warren County.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 2022 Kia Telluride, operated by Mary E. Huelsman, 57, of Bellbrook, was traveling south on state Route 48. A 2016 Chevrolet Malibu, operated by Michael T. Barch, 20, Centerville, was traveling west on Lytle Five Points Road. The Telluride struck the Malibu in the intersection, causing both vehicles off the side of the roadway, striking a utility pole.

Huelsman was transported by ground ambulance to Kettering Health with non-life-threatening injuries.

Barch and his passenger, Karys R. Seipel, 19, Springboro, succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.

The patrol was assisted at the scene by the Clearcreek Township Police Department, Clearcreek Fire District, Ohio Department of Transportation and Sandy’s Towing.

The crash remains under investigation.
