Greenfield issues public notice on water
The village of Greenfield water plant has issued the following public notice.
Source water tested positive for a fecal indicator
We are required by the Ohio Administrative Code to inform the Public when a fecal indicator has been detected in our raw water source. On July 20, 2012, this water system detected a fecal indicator in well No. 1.
When notified of the result, well No. 1 was taken offline and is currently not serving water to consumers. All finished water being served were negative for bacteria indicators. As a precaution the chlorine content in the finished water being served to the consumer will be maintained at a higher disinfectant level.
What should you do?
Nothing at this time. If a situation arises where the water is no longer safe to drink, you will be notified within 24 hours.
There is nothing you need to do unless you have a severely compromised immune system, have an infant, or are elderly.
These people may be at increased risk and should seek advice about drinking water from their health care providers.
General guidelines to lessen the risk of infection by microbes are available from EPA's safe water Drinking water Hotline at 1-800-426-4791. If you have specific health concerns, consult your doctor.
You do not need to boil your water. For more information call Nathan Campbell at 937-981-2435.
Thanks,
Nathan Campbell
