Firefighters Parade set for July 5
The Festival of the Bells Committee in conjunction with the Highland County Firefighters Association, are pleased to announce that the ninth annual Firefighters Parade will be held on July 5 at 6:30 p.m. in Hillsboro.
Lineup will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Highland County Fairgrounds. Judging of emergency equipment will start at 4:30 p.m. and end at 5:45 p.m.
The parade route will be: starting at fairgrounds, turning onto Fair Street, to West Main Street.
The parade will then turn left on West Main St and continue through the Festival to the center of town, turning left on North High Street and ending at Beech Street.
All Fire and Life Squad Entries will proceed to the Hillsboro Fire Dept. at 204 N. East St. for awards presentation.
The awards are sponsored by All-American Fire Equipment and Pike Natural Gas Company.
Walking units may line up at the old Hillsboro High School, in the lower parking lot. Candy must be handed out, not thrown. We ask that non-emergency entries be limited to two entries. Horse entries must have a clean-up crew following or they cannot participate.
(Tractor-trailer entries and trucks pulling long trailers will have a very difficult time making it through the center of town, due to the Festival being set up.)
Awards will be given in different categories to Fire and Life Squad entries only.
Those categories will be:
