Fayette County Sheriff's Office investigating two-vehicle crash
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two-vehicle injury crash that occurred Sunday, Feb. 2 on U.S. 62 SW near the intersection of Rowe-Ging Rd. The crash was reported at 5:36 p.m.
A 2007 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck operated by Michael L. Ballard, 54, of Washington Court House was traveling north on U.S. 62 when a collision occurred with a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer pulling a utility trailer, operated by Travis M. Leonard, 46 of Washington Court House.
Both vehicles sustained heavy damage in the crash.
Leonard was extricated from his vehicle by members of the Washington Fire Department. Leonard was transported from the scene by MedFlight to a Columbus-area trauma center for medical treatment.
Ballard was treated at Adena-Fayette Medical Center. Ballard was determined to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash and was charged with OVI and no operator’s license.
Due to the lack of physical evidence at the scene, deputies have been unable to determine which vehicle crossed the centerline which caused the crash. Due to injury, deputies have not yet been able to interview Mr. Leonard regarding the crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
