Euclid man charged in alleged Scioto County jail attack
Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman announced that on Sept. 26, two correctional officers working at the Scioto County jail were allegedly assaulted by an inmate.
Sheriff Thoroughman stated that at approximately 6:56 p.m., a correctional officer was conducting his rounds when an inmate allegedly attacked him, allegedly striking him multiple times in the face for no apparent reason.
During the assault, the inmate allegedly searched the officer’s pockets and took items from his person without permission.
A second correctional officer responded to assist the first officer. The inmate then allegedly attacked the second officer, striking him and placing his forearm across the officer’s throat until he lost consciousness.
Both officers were transported to Southern Ohio Medical Center for treatment. One of the officers was later transported to Grant Medical Center for further treatment.
The inmate, Dimitrious Anglen, 30, of Euclid, was charged with:
• One count of aggravated robbery, a felony of the first degree;
• Two counts of felonious assault, felonies of the second degree; and
• One count of strangulation, a felony of the second degree.
Sheriff Thoroughman stated that the investigation remains ongoing and that additional charges could be presented to a Scioto County grand jury at a later date.
