Dayton man arrested on drug charges following Scioto County traffic stop

Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman and Portsmouth Police Chief Debby Brewer announce the arrest of a Dayton man on drug charges following an investigation conducted by the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force in coordination with the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

As part of the ongoing investigation, at approximately 1:02 p.m. on Aug. 24, the Ohio State Highway Patrol initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling near mile marker 12 on U.S. Route 23 in Lucasville, Ohio for alleged traffic violations. During the stop, troopers allegedly seized approximately 150 grams of suspected crack cocaine and approximately 158 grams of suspected fentanyl. The estimated street value of the suspected drugs allegedly seized is $36,960.

Arrested was Dorian Lee Dorsey, 48, of Dayton. Dorsey was charged with two counts of trafficking in drugs and two counts of possession of drugs, all felonies of the first degree.

Dorsey was placed in the Scioto County Jail.

The case will eventually be forwarded to the Scioto County Prosecutor's Office to be presented to a Scioto County grand jury for the consideration of additional felony charges.
