Culvert Project Slated For Highland-247
Chillicothe - Crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation Highland County Highway Maintenance Facility will undertake a culvert replacement project on state Route 247 next month, requiring a weeklong closure of the route.
According to Transportation Administrator Dan Nartker, crews will be replacing a deteriorated pipe at the route’s 3.66-mile marker, between County Road 21 (Peach Orchard Road) and Township Road 169B (Walker Road), south of Folsom.
The project is scheduled to begin Monday, June 14, and continue through the end of the business day, Friday, June 18, or approximately 4 p.m. While the route is closed, motorists will be detoured by way of state routes 73 and 785.
In addition to this project, crews will be replacing culverts and liners at other locations during the month of June. However, these projects will not require closure of the route, and traffic will be maintained with the use of flaggers.
As weather permits, crews will be working at the 1.04-mile marker, south of S.R. 785 at Fairfax; the 1.92-mile marker, north of C.R. 3 (Fair Ridge Road); the 3.25-mile marker, south of Walker Road; and at the 3.72-mile marker, north of Walker Road.
Although a set schedule for days of operation has yet to be established, motorists are advised of temporary lane restrictions and delays between approximately 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on days crews are at work.
