112% more veterans used BCW/Workforce services in 2nd half of 2023 over the same period in 2022
Last year, the directors and operator of BCW/Workforce – the combined OhioMeansJobs Butler, Clermont and Warren county OhioMeansJobs centers – recognized a workforce area that needed bolstering: helping veterans transition from military service to meaningful civilian careers.
BCW/Workforce enlisted the help of marketing and design firm Dimalanta Design Group, who worked to develop and carry out a solution that would market the services of BCW/Workforce to the demographic of military veterans, encouraging them to engage with and visit one of the centers. The ultimate goal of this six-month campaign was to guide and assist veterans in landing a post-military civilian career in which they felt like valued team members.
Veterans noticed and acted—123 veterans contacted BCW in the final six months of 2023. During that same period of 2022, 58 veterans used BCW/Workforce for employment services. This represents an increase of 112 percent.
The campaign, which ran for six months between July 1, 2023 and Dec. 31, 2023, included navigation metaphors that encouraged veterans to utilize OhioMeansJobs as a compass to navigate the waters of civilian employment.
Targeted emails and social media posts provided a clear process for veterans to find civilian work through the services provided by the three local OhioMeansJobs career centers. Veterans who meet with career advisers at OhioMeansJobs career centers develop a post-military career path blueprint. Advisers then help veterans connect with veteran-friendly employers.
The results of this targeted campaign speak for themselves. The three career centers more than doubled veteran engagement with the centers from July to December 2023 compared to veterans visiting the job centers over the same period from 2022. More veterans were able to find a path from military service to meaningful civilian careers.
