Greenfield man sentenced to prison for meth possession
A Greenfield man was sentenced to a year and a half in prison recently after pleading guilty to a third-degree felony meth possession charge.
As previously reported, David Bennett, 50, was charged with aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a third-degree felony, during the March Highland County grand jury session.
The indictment alleged that on or about Nov. 4, Bennett “did knowingly obtain, possess or use” meth in an amount “equal to or exceeding bulk amount but less than five times bulk amount.”
According to a bill of particulars, a Greenfield police officer arrived at an area residence after receiving a report of a non-responsive male subject, later identified as Bennett. While on the scene, the police officer identified “a bag containing a crystalline substance” next to Bennett. It was submitted to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and determined to contain 3.53 grams of meth.
Bennett pleaded guilty to the charge April 6. Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced him to a definite determinate term of 18 months in prison, with jail time credit of 51 days.
Bennett was admitted into the Correctional Reception Center in Orient April 13, according to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.
