Shope named to 2022 Winter Sportsmanship Team for HCAC

The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced the Christopher M. Ragsdale Sportsmanship teams on Wednesday for those who have finished their winter competition in 2022.
Named after former HCAC Commissioner Christopher M. Ragsdale, the league honors athletes outside of the conference championship season who demonstrate positive sportsmanship both on and off the field or court of competition. The award was developed in 2009 as part of a conference-wide sportsmanship initiative.
Selected by coaches and teammates, the members of the All-HCAC Sportsmanship team have demonstrated all season long the values of respect and integrity as a part of their daily participation in intercollegiate athletics.
For the conclusion of this winter's 2022 athletic seasons, there were six Transylvania student athletes named to the All-HCAC Sportsmanship team. Those athletes are as follows: Senior Jack Patton of men's basketball, senior Grace Shope [of Leesburg] of women's basketball, junior Connor Hood of men's swimming and diving, senior Sophie Cobler of women's swimming and diving, sophomore Drew Meader of men's indoor track and field and first-year Taylor McGarvey of women's indoor track and field.
