The Transylvania women's basketball team released its 13-game conference schedule for the 2020-2021 season on Tuesday (Sept. 29).
The upcoming Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference schedule features a modified slate for the Pioneers and is scheduled to tip off on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021 at Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the HCAC previously announced the decision to postpone conference-related competition until Jan. 1, 2021, pushing the start of the conference basketball schedules back to January.
The upcoming conference schedule is condensed to 13 games from the traditional 18-game offering. The Pioneers will host seven regular-season contests starting with their home opener versus Hanover College on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021 at the Clive M. Beck Center.
Transylvania will conclude the regular season at home on Wednesday, Feb. 17 against Defiance College before shifting gears towards the three-round HCAC Tournament, beginning on Saturday, Feb. 20 with the first round of play. The semifinals take place the following Friday, Feb. 26 with the championship game occurring the next day on Saturday, Feb. 27.
An automatic bid to next March's scheduled NCAA Tournament will be awarded to the HCAC Tournament champions.
The Pioneers are the two-time reigning HCAC regular-season and conference tournament champions and coming off two consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament over that span.
