Lions drop SHAC game to Peebles

An early lead didn't last for the Fairfield Lions on the road Tuesday evening as the host Peebles Indians tallied two four-run innings, including one in the sixth, to take away the lead and the win from the Lions, as the host Indians won by a 10-8 score.
Fairfield's loss at Peebles puts them at 5-4 overall and 1-2 in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference.
The Lions led early by scoring two runs in the top of the first, but the first of the two four-run innings by PHS occurred in the bottom of the second for a 4-2 deficit by the Lions.
FHS added a four-run inning of their own in the top of the fourth, but the Indians responded with two runs in their half of the fourth for a 6-6 score.
Fairfield took an 8-6 lead after the top of the sixth, but the Indians rallied with their second four-run output, tallying those runs in the bottom of the sixth. PHS kept the lead by holding the visiting Lions scoreless in the top of the seventh.

There were 16 total hits by the Lions with one going for extra bases as Wyatt Crothers hit a double. Crothers also led FHS with three RBIs and totaled two hits.
Isaiah Liggins led FHS at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Gaining two hits each were Quintin Schaffer (one run, one RBI), Cody Bennett (one run), Joey Wilson (two runs), Dylan Rohde (one run) and Zach Cox (one run, one RBI).
The Lions left 12 runners on the bases but did have two steals from Rohde and Blake Hildebrant as he had one hit and one RBI.
Charged with the loss was Rohde. He went 5.1 innings. Liggins pitched 0.2 innings of relief.
