Fairfield Lions win 4 straight SHAC games

The following are recaps from four recent Fairfield baseball victories.
Tuesday, April 26
Lions dominate West Union, 15-1
The Fairfield Lions went on the road for a Southern Hills Athletic Conference game on Tuesday (April 26) and returned to Highland County with a convincing 15-1 victory against the West Union Dragons.
Gaining the win saw the Lions score six runs in the top of the first inning, followed by consecutive one-run innings in the top of the third and top of the fourth. From there, FHS scored seven runs in the top of the fifth. West Union’s lone run was scored in the bottom of the fourth.
The Lions collected 11 total hits and had one error, while the Dragons finished with three hits and six errors.
Two Fairfield players finished with two hits each, as Wyatt Collins was 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI, and Owen Larrick went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Finishing with one hit each were Dow Moon (one run, one walk), Gabe Fouch (one run, one walk), Cade Miller (two runs, two RBI), Landry Hattan (one run), Hunter Burns (one run, one RBI), Adam Berwanger (one run, one RBI) and Brandon Ludwick (one run).
Also for the Lions, Elijah Humphreys scored two runs and had one RBI, Jacob Morgan scored a run and walked once, and Noah Allering scored a run.
Burns, Miller and Hattan each had a double, while Berwanger, Miller (two) and Ludwick each had steals.
Moon was the winning pitcher, as he pitched 2.1 innings, allowing one earned run on two hits, four walks and he had two strikeouts. Collins pitched one inning of relief, where he allowed no runs on one hit and one walk. Allering pitched 1.2 inning in relief, where he give up no hits, runs or walks and finished with four strikeouts.

Wednesday, April 27
Lions win at Peebles in SHAC contest
Through five innings the Fairfield Lions and host Peebles Indians were both scoreless on the scoreboard in their SHAC showdown. Then came the sixth inning, and that was no longer the case, with the Lions scoring nine runs in the top half of the inning, leading to what was a 10-0 shutout win by FHS on Wednesday, April 27.
Fairfield’s final run came in the top of the seventh for the 10-run lead. For the game, the Lions finished with 10 hits and two errors, while Peebles had one hit and three errors.
On the mound for the Lions, the win went to Gabe Fouch, as he allowed no runs, two walks and one hit during the complete-game effort that saw him throw 103 pitches, 68 for strikes. Fouch ended the game with 14 strikeouts.
At the plate, three Fairfield players had two hits each, with those players being at the top of the order. Morgan was 2-for-4 with one run, one RBI and a walk. Allering finished 2-for-4 with one run and two RBI. Miller went 2-for-4 with two runs, one RBI and a walk.
Burns finished with a run scored, and Hattan scored one run, had an RBI and walked twice.
Finishing with one hit each were Fouch (two RBI), Collins (one run), Larrick (two runs, one RBI) and Moon (one run, one RBI, three walks).
Fouch and Miller (two) had doubles, while Collins was hit by a pitch. Larrick had two steals, and Collins also had one stolen base.

Thursday, April 28
FHS Lions win by three runs against Fayetteville
Fairfield was finally home on Thursday, April 28, and they defended their home field with a 7-4 SHAC win over the visiting Fayetteville Rockets.
FHS earned the win with a strong bottom of the second inning as they scored three runs. Fayetteville answered with two runs in the top of the fourth, but FHS came back with a run of their own in the same inning.
Next, the Lions scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth, and from there the Rockets scored one run in both the sixth and seventh innings, but it wasn’t enough to catch Fairfield on the scoreboard.
FHS finished with six hits and six errors, while the Rockets had seven hits and five errors.
Fouch led the Lions with two hits (one double) at 2-for-3 with three runs. Having one hit each were Allering, Burns, Collins and Larrick. Runs were credited to Allering, Burns, Collins and Larrick. RBI went to Colins, Hattan and Moon (two).
Allering forced two walks, and teammate Larrick also forced two walks in the SHAC win.
Allering was the winning pitcher as he allowed three unearned runs on five hits and one walk. He ended the game with four strikeouts on 57 total pitches. Miller pitched two innings, where he allowed one unearned run on two hits and no walks, with three strikeouts on 37 total pitches.

Monday, May 2
Lions earn SHAC victory in close game at Manchester
Another SHAC win went to the Fairfield Lions on Monday (May 2) as they traveled to and won against the Manchester Greyhounds by a 6-5 score.
Fairfield had the early advantage with a five-run top of the third, then built a 6-0 lead after a one-ruin fourth inning. Manchester answered with three runs in the bottom of the fourth and two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The Lions finished with eight hits and four errors, and the Greyhounds of Manchester had five hits and no errors.
Allering finished 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI, while teammate Burns was 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Morgan collected one hit, one run, and one RBI. Miller finished with one run, one RBI and two walks. Fouch totaled one RBI, and Humphreys was 1-for-1 in the game.
Also for Fairfield, Hattan had one hit and one RBI, while Moon collected one hit, two run and two walks.
Burns had a double in the game, while Fouch was hit by a pitch. Hattan had a sacrifice fly.
Fouch was the winning pitcher, as he allowed five runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks, with eight strikeouts in the seven-inning complete game. Fouch threw a total of 106 pitches, 68 for strikes.
The four wins move the Lions to 13-3 overall with a SHAC record of 9-1 in Division I.

Tuesday, April 26
Lions dominate West Union, 15-1

FHS Lions win by three runs against Fayetteville
