Fairfield Lady Lions drop district semifinal to Eastern; Hillsboro loses in district semifinals to Fairfield Union

On Monday night at Piketon High School, the 2022 girls soccer season for the Fairfield Lady Lions ended with a 3-0 shutout loss to the Eastern Lady Warriors in the Division III SE District Semifinals.
The loss by Fairfield saw the score stay tied at zero until there was 2:39 left in the first half when McKinzie Dotson was first to score a goal from 30-yards out and the 1-0 lead as that score stood when halftime arrived.
Eastern added two more goals in the second half, with both coming from Tabitha Schumacher.
The Lady Lions finish the season 13-5-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference.
Earlier in the postseason, the Lady Lions defeated Westfall, 10-0 in the sectional finals.
In that sectional final game, Fairfield had three goals by Faith Donley, two goals from Braylee Bartley and one goal each by Caitlyn Quickle, Hailey Tolle, Emmi Vance, Kendal Welling and Kennedy Zink.
That same game, assists were credited to Zink (three), Donley, Ava Hooper and Tolle.
Claire Newkirk had one save vs. Westfall. Also starting at goalie in the shutout win was Alayna McIntosh.
Seniors for the Lady Lions are: Alayna McIntosh, Hallie Haines, Hailey Tolle, Kara Gleadle and Olivia Bellamy.

On Monday (Oct. 24), the Hillsboro Lady Indians played in the Division II SE District Semifinals and lost to the Fairfield Union Lady Falcons by a 1-0 score in a game played at Zane Trace High School.
The loss saw HHS finish the season with a 7-10-12 overall record.
Hannah Holland and Peighton Bledsoe each led the Lady Indians in goals this season with nine. At goal this season, Kinsey Gilliland finished with 107 saves to lead the team.
Earlier in the postseason, Hillsboro won their sectional championship by defeating Logan Elm by a 4-0 score.
Seniors for the Lady Indians are Taylor Leathley and Kinsey Gilliland.
