University of Rio Grande to host community celebration and concert Aug. 23

University of Rio Grande and Rio Grande Community College is excited to announce a special event to kick off the new academic year. The “Live on the Green” community celebration Aug. 23, sponsored by Atomic Credit Union, is open to the public and promises an evening filled with live music, engaging activities and fun.

The festivities will begin with a "Meet the Team" event from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by performances from talented artists, Nolan Collins, and Cami NYX & The Shades. All activities will take place on or near the Graduation Green.

Attendees can look forward to a variety of attractions, including:

• Food: Seventy-Eight Eighty Grille, Fat Boy Q, Mayes Runner Concessions, Crumbl Cookie, Gyroh, and a VIP Drink Garden.

• Vendors: Gallia Bees, Rio Renaissance, Once More with Feeling, Eljay Designs, Sew Adorable, Hair Tinsel, Hope Homestead Farms, Works & Wanders and Honey Bee Hollow.

• Interactive Art Exhibit: Hosted by the University of Rio Grande Art Club.

• Yard Games: Sponsored by Pepsi.

• Inflatables: Provided by the Army National Guard & Crown Retreats.

• Touch a Truck: Village of Rio Grande Fire Department.

Handicap parking will be available in the Ohio Valley Bank lot, with general parking located across the street.

The event is the first of several this fall hosted by Rio’s Office of Institutional Advancement. All proceeds will support Rio’s Founders' Day of Giving initiatives, directly benefiting students and enhancing their educational experience.
