On Sunday, Aug. 24, the Premier Showmen 4-H Club met for their final 4-H meeting prior to the 2025 Highland County Fair.
There was a lot on the meeting agenda to cover before all the members headed off to the fair. From barn thank-you notes to final checklists, each member was busy making sure the 2025 Highland County Fair would be a total success.
Ohio State Extension Office Representatives Ty Hamilton and Danielle Combs, as well as Highland County Jr. Fair Coordinator Kaley Fannin, attended the meeting to remind all members that the volunteers who help manage the club and the fair are important roles in making the fair week a success.
They reminded everyone to complete necessary forms for market sale projects and to thank those who help make the fair projects possible. Additionally, they reminded all members and parents that they are here to help in any way they can to keep fair week running smoothly.
A special visit from Congressman David Taylor was a perfect way to reflect on our club year so far. Congressman Taylor spoke to all members and parents on the impact 4-H had on his youth and career. He spoke on how thankful he is to have Premier Showmen 4-H Club honoring our veterans and current military through service projects like “Stars, Stripes and Smiles” completed earlier this year.
Congressman Taylor encouraged all members to keep pursuing their goals in 4-H and be open to the opportunities 4-H and its values will bring to its members in the future.
The club concluded its meeting by making thank-you cards for all project barn sponsors and help. All the Premier Showmen 4-H Club members and parents are proud of the year they have had so far and are looking forward to a wonderful week at the 2025 Highland County Fair.
