The State Lions Convention was held recently at the Roberts Convention Center near Wilmington.

Many Lions and youth received awards and recognition for various accomplishments during the past year.

One of the major competition events is the Peace Essay Contest for students in the local elementary schools. The theme for this year’s contest was “Together as One” and every Lions Club was encouraged to sponsor a local student.

The Lynchburg Lions Club sponsored both the Peace Poster and Peace Essay contests in the Lynchburg-Clay Middle School.

Maci Berger won both the District and State competition in the Peace Essay Contest. She was recognized as the District winner at the District Lions Convention in Blue Ash last month. She was then recognized as the State winner at the State Convention on May 16.

She received citations and cash awards at both events. Maci is a student at the Lynchburg-Clay Middle School and she is the daughter of Carl and Stephanie Berger of the Harwood area. The Lynchburg Lions Club was proud to sponsor her and the Club congratulates Maci for her outstanding essay.
