Highland County’s TAG students tour Charleston
Highland County’s Talented & Gifted (TAG) students recently experienced Charleston, S.C. on their annual TAG field trip May 1-4.
The 34 fifth-, sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders and five chaperones toured Charleston with stops at the South Carolina Aquarium, Waterfront Park, Charleston City Market, Riley Waterfront Park, Magnolia Gardens Plantation, Shem Creek and the International African American Museum.
The group also enjoyed a guided ghost tour of Historic Charleston, as well as a horse and carriage historic tour.
Students attending from Fairfield Local Schools were Dailey Watson, Timothy Thuering, Addison Stanfield, Daphne Zink, Oakley Purvis, Millie Purvis, Deacon McKenzie, Davis McKenzie, Nolan McCoy, Laural McCoy, Ava May, Xayne Daugherty, Baylee Link, Addison Tolle and Brenna Binegar.
Students from Hillsboro City Schools were Blaine Gard, Matthew Adams, Si Harper, Mallory Bryson, and Regan Wharton.
Bright Local School District was represented by Gunner Lucas.
Lynchburg-Clay students included Jack Bennett and Emily Drake.
Greenfield Exempted Village Schools were represented by Joseph George, Silas Soards, Zach Zint, Tommy Carter, Addison Allen, Wyatt Bobbitt, Graycelenn Fillmore, Hudson Jordan, Phoebe Murphy, Harper Roe and Porter Roe.
Chaperones for the trip were Kesia McCoy, Elena Cullom, Rachel Soards and Mel McKenzie. The trip was coordinated and chaperoned by Kimberly Douglas, coordinator of Gifted Services for Highland County, in conjunction with Debbie Bowling, agent for Martin School Travel, Lexington, Ky.
