The Fairfield Local High School chapter of the National Honor Society has had a very successful school year. This student organization has successfully directed several school activities including a charitable project and has volunteered at several events.

Senior members of the NHS are: Ashlyn Bellamy, Hannah Carroll (Secretary), Zoey Carver, Jaeden Drury (Treasurer), Kaitlyn Eidenier, Ava Hooper, Sophia Humphrey, Maxine Ludwick, Mya McIntosh (President), Kyle Miller, Rilee Quickle (Vice President), Abbygail Riley, Emelia Roehm, Evelyn Roehm, William Rowe, Maddy Wiseman, Josh White and Holly Wolfenbarger.

Junior members of the NHS are: Emma Ayers, Alyssa Bales, Caleb Barrera, Layne Burgess, Wyatt Cummings, Kinsey Drury, Isabelle Hale, Kaylee Hurless-Miller, Meri Jackson, Emma Jenkins, Cameron Miller, Aubry Moore, Whitlee Morrow, Brody Smith, Landry Teeters, Eleanore Warner and Emerson Zink.

In October, the NHS group aided Fairfield’s FFA chapter by participating in the annual “Safe Halloween” event. This event was held in Fairfield Local’s auditeria and allowed children to trick-or-treat safely while school groups and area businesses handed out candy. Participation in this activity allowed NHS members to provide service to the community while fostering a safe environment for everyone to enjoy.

In February, members volunteered their time to work in Fairfield’s Care Closet. They assisted by unpacking and organizing items to allow students to easily locate the items they need.

Furthermore, in March, Fairfield’s National Honor Society launched the “Coins for a Cure” campaign to assist the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to actively fund local blood cancer research for pediatrics and adults.

The goal of the National Honor Society is to give back to the school and community by maintaining high standards of character and scholarship as well as providing leadership and service to others. The NHS, in part, fulfills this goal by conducting charitable projects.
