The clean hydrogen industry has tremendous potential in Ohio. The Appalachian Clean Hydrogen Hub is anticipated to create more than 21,000 good-paying jobs in the region – including more than 18,000 in construction and more than 3,000 permanent jobs.

American manufacturers can’t expand and scale up production if they’re constantly dealing with a flood of illegally-subsidized imports.

We know what a problem unfair foreign competition is – particularly by countries like China, where companies are always finding new ways to cheat. One current loophole allows these companies – along with drug traffickers – to evade U.S. taxes, fees, and inspections when packages are worth less than $800. It’s known as the “de minimis” loophole.

Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH), Chairman of the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, hosted a news conference call with Larry Moore, Executive Director of the Summit County Veterans Service Commission, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of Ohio State Legislative Chairman, to discuss new legislation to prevent veterans and servicemembers using Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) home loans from losing their homes.

Our bill will modernize and strengthen the rules to improve tracking of who owns U.S. farmland – and that will help us block countries like China and Russia from buying up this land.

A reliable supply of efficient transformers, made with American materials, is critical to keeping the power on and keeping energy costs under control for Ohioans. And recently we’ve seen too many disruptions in that supply chain.

Two of my top priorities are supporting Ohio manufacturers and lowering costs for Ohio families. This week, we announced a bipartisan tax cut deal that does both – it would cut taxes for many Ohio parents and for Ohio manufacturers, and would also protect residents of East Palestine from surprise tax bills.

Right now, electric cooperatives provide more than 380,000 homes and businesses in Ohio with affordable and reliable electricity. It’s why I’m working to stop federal red tape that would make it harder for these co-ops to stop electric bills from going up.

Brown is calling on the EPA to work with labor and industry on a final rule that reduces pollution while maintaining affordable power, and protecting Ohio jobs and American energy independence.

Once again, the White House was trying to push through a trade agreement behind closed doors with no enforceable labor standards. The good news is, this time we put a stop to it.
