The Wilmington College women’s cross-country team competed in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Saturday morning. Representing the Quakers were Faith Duncan and freshman Allyson Merriman. Due to only having two runners, the Quakers did not post a team score.

Just as she has done all season, Duncan won. She won with a time of 20:59.0 for her seventh victory of the season, taking down second place by over 32 seconds.

Duncan (Lebanon HS/Lebanon, Ohio)  becomes the first Quaker ever on the women’s side to win the Great Lakes Regional and becomes the first national qualifier for Wilmington since Annie Cekada in 2011. Duncan also earned the first All-Region honor of her career.

Merriman continued to improve in the last race of her freshman campaign. She finished 241st with a season best 6K time of 27:40.3.

Duncan moves on to the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships next Saturday in Terre Haute, Indiana. The course is the same that Duncan won D3 Pre-Nationals on in the beginning of October, as she tries to become the Quakers’ first-ever cross-country National Champion.
