Lynchburg-Clay’s Huguely, Pierce win ’26 boys and girls Highland County Meet

On Tuesday, Sept. 29, the 2026 Highland County Cross-Country Meet was held at Lynchburg-Clay High School, where Lynchburg-Clay’s Miley Pierce won the girls event and Tavion Huguely was the winner of the boys event.
Winning the championship in the boys event was Lynchburg-Clay with 23 points, while the girls champion was the Fairfield Lady Lions with 24 points.
The boys final results in the team scores included LCHS (23), Fairfield (47) and McClain (50).
The girls final team results were Fairfield (24), McClain (44) and Hillsboro (52).
For the boys event, Lynchburg-Clay took five of the top 9 spots, including three in the top 4. Huguely won the event with a time of 17.53, and in second place was Fairfield’s Owen Van Dyke at 19.14. Third place went to LC’s Glenn Watson at 19.41, followed by Owen Faust in fourth place at 19.42. The fifth-place finisher was McClain’s Isaac Mincey with a time of 19.44.
The rest of the top 10 finishers were: John Michael (LC, 19.50), Blake Walters (FHS, 20.07), Landon Cullom (MHS, 20.26), Cylus Arrington (LC, 20.27) and Zander Lyons (MHS, 20.28).
The rest of Lynchburg-Clay’s finishers were: 22, Colton Grabill, 23.48; and 25, Connor Faust, 24.20.
Other finishers for Fairfield were: 11, Archer Cline, 20.38; 12, Bentley Sowards, 20.43; 15, Connor Ayers, 21.27; 17, Holden Moore, 22.55; 18, Noah Kerns, 23.04; 19, Korbin Hixon, 23.11; and 29, Desmond Clark, 29.01.
Other McClain finishers included: 13, Bryce Barber, 20.43; 14, Jayden Burgess, 21.25; 16, Brody Murdock, 21.57; 20, Owen Sykes, 23.24; 21, Chris Lanning, 23.47; 23, Riley Butcher, 23.48; 24, Cade Raine, 24.11; 27, Brian Edwards, 25.47; and Cale Flowers, 26.28.
Hillsboro had one runner in the event, Erik Remington, in 26th place at 25.33. Whiteoak had no runners in the event.
In the high school girls event, Pierce won for LCHS with a time of 21.48, followed by McClain’s Lila Banks in second at 22.18. The third-place finisher was Fairfield’s Daphne Zink with a time of 22.51. The fourth-place finisher was Fairfield’s Ellie Reeves at 23.08. In fifth place was LC’s Annabelle Thompson at 23.22.
Fairfield won the event with a team score of 24, followed by McClain at 44 and Hillsboro at 52. LCHS and WHS didn’t have team scores.
Fairfield’s other times included: 7, Zoey Niebling, 24.17; 8, Triniti Glisson, 25.44; 10, Laurel McCoy, 26.58; 11, Iryna Reeves, 27.06; and 19, Kaylee McClain, 35.08.
McClain had times that included: 9, Grace Edwards, 26.09; 15, Abbie Warren, 31.17; 16, Abby Wiseman, 34.00; and 17, Vada Ponder, 34.53.
Hillsboro’s times were: 6, Aria Ruble, 24.04; 13, Brynne Holsted, 28.01; 14, Miley Messer, 28.04; 18, Sofia Mezo-Mil, 35.02; and 21, Alainna Mikkelsen, 39.27.
LCHS also had a time of 35.31 from Paisley Dooley for 20th place. Whiteoak had one runner in the race, Arayla Montgomery, in 12th place at 27.34.

In the junior high race for the girls, the winner was Fairfield’s Nora Stuckey at 13.06. The team champion was Hillsboro with a score of 35. The rest of the top 5 in the junior high girls race was 2, Chloe Pierce, LC, 13.18; 3, Maddie Burke, HMS, 13.42; 4, Natalie Bohrer, LC, 14.42; and 5, Alayna Smith, FMS, 15.26.
In the junior high boys race, the winner was Hillsboro’s Aiden Stapleton at 12.39. Fairfield won the boys championship with a time score of 30. The rest of the top 5 finishers were: 2, Brayden Cox, FMS, 12.59; 3, Lathun Gaines HMS, 13.15; 4, Ethan Hawke, FMS, 13.16; and 5, Liam Steele, WMS, 13.27.
