The Hillsboro Public Library has a beautiful display this month. Dora Anderson has brought in her collection of pottery, just in time for the holiday season.

A Christmas Day dinner will be held Dec. 25 at the Senior Center from noon-2 p.m. Persons attending are asked to bring a salad and dessert. If interested, make reservations by calling the center at 393-4745. The public is invited. The dinner is sponsored by the Purdin family and volunteers.

The congregation of Hillsboro First United Methodist Church welcome esteemed pastor and scholar Dr. Ellsworth Kalas as a special guest during this season of advent on Sunday, Dec. 11.

The evening will begin with the lighting of the luminaries at 5 p.m. From 5:30-7 p.m., you can hop on a wagon in downtown Leesburg for a ride around town to view the beautiful decorations, stop by the open houses at local businesses for some refreshments and fellowship, and take the kids to see Santa at the Leesburg Post Office.

Local U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Coordinator James Anthony "Tony" Keltz, Sr. has announced that Dec. 16 is the deadline for donating toys for families in need of Christmas gifts for their children.

The Highland County Board of Elections will be holding an automatic recount on Monday, Dec. 5 at 8 a.m. in the Board of Elections office. The recount will involve the Fairfield Fiscal Officer race and the Greenfield Natural Gas Aggregation issue.

The Greenfield Lions Club Candy Store is now open downtown on Jefferson Street through Dec. 23. Store hours are Tuesday through Friday from noon-7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.

Rite Aid Pharmacy in Hillsboro has added a new registered pharmacist to its professional staff. Erin Stafford, a Hillsboro native, has joined Amy Williams and Marc Queen as the third pharmacist, along with several certified pharmacy technicians.
