    Habitat for Humanity launches new project

    Highland County Habitat for Humanity is launching a new endeavor geared toward helping an area family secure a new home, while boosting the values of existing neighborhoods.
           Terry Collins, president of the area Habitat for Humanity said that instead of building an entirely new construction, the organization bought a foreclosed home to renovate.
           "The area is just littered with foreclosed homes," Collins said. "By buying and rehabbing one, it helps the family, it helps the city and it helps the neighborhood."

    Rogers Williams Auto Sales relocating to former Hillsboro Ford site
    With more than two decades in the automotive sales industry under his belt, Roger Williams says he is looking forward to relocating his business to the site of a former Ford dealership. After purchasing the former Hillsboro Ford property through the Ford Motor Company Leasing Development branch, Williams will be moving his business, Roger Williams Auto Sales, just east of its present location on Harry Sauner Road in Hillsboro.

    Georgetown man arrested for intimidation of Brown County commissioner
    A Georgetown man has been arrested on a charge of intimidation of a public official regarding a member of the Brown County Board of Commissioners.
     According to the Brown County Sheriff's Office, on July 21, deputies with the BCSO arrested Michael Hart, of Georgetown. Hart was charged with intimidation of a public official, a felony of the third degree; and unlawful restraint, a misdemeanor of the third degree.

    Hillsboro mayor 'cancels' layoffs
    Just days after the 30 days' notice expired for three city employees who were laid off from the city of Hillsboro's administration building, Hillsboro Mayor Dick Zink told The Highland County Press Monday that "The layoffs have been canceled" and two of those three employees have been recalled.

    HPD reports: Vehicle strikes wheelchair
    The following are reports from the Hillsboro Police Department.
    • On July 22, Rick Carter, of Martinsville, Ohio, while driving a 1992 Ford, was traveling on South Elm Street when Neal Strivers, of Walnut Street, Hillsboro, in a motorized wheelchair, cross into South Elm Street from the west alley. This caused the Carter vehicle to allegedly strike the wheelchair and caused Strivers to fall to the roadway., the Hillsboro Police Department said.
