Fairfield softball wins by 14 runs over North Adams

The Fairfield Lady Lions continued their road trip through the Southern Hills Athletic Conference Wednesday afternoon, as they traveled to Seaman to play a much-improved North Adams Lady Devils softball team.

North Adams entered the game with a 2-1 conference record and an overall 3-1 record, but the Fairfield Lady Lions (6-3, 3-1 SHAC) dominated the North Adams Lady Devils (3-2, 2-2 SHAC) on this day, 15-1. 

Fairfield played another complete game this afternoon scoring 15 runs on 11 hits, while Katelyn Chambliss and Rilee Quickle combined for the win, scattering four hits and allowing just a single run. 

The Lady Lions showed their power this game with five extra-base hits. Katelyn Chambliss had a double and a triple, Sydney Sanders had a double, Jobey Hattan had a triple and Kelsey Clark also tripled.

Fairfield scored nine runs in the top of the first inning, taking advantage of several untimely walks by the North Adams pitcher. Hattan had a single and a sacrifice fly as Sydney Sanders had a bases-loaded double that cleared the bases, and Faith Miller also singled in the inning.

The Lady Lions added four more unearned runs in the top of the third inning. In the inning, Hattan singled, Emmi Vance singled and Chambliss tripled.

North Adams loaded the bases and scored a run in the bottom of the third inning, but Katelyn Chambliss got out of the bases-loaded jam with no further damage with a groundout to Rilee Quickle at third base.

Fairfield completed the scoring in the top of the fourth inning, scoring two runs on a single by Sydney Hooper, a triple off the bat of Jobey Hattan and a single by Sydney Sanders.

Rilee Quickle took over pitching duties from Katelyn Chambliss, shutting out the Lady Devils in fourth and fifth inning.

Leading hitters for the Fairfield Lady Lions: Sydney Hooper (1-for-2, 2 walks, 3 runs), Rilee Quickle (0-for-2, 2 walks, 2 runs), Jobey Hattan (3-for-3, double, triple, 3 runs, 2 RBI), Sydney Sanders (2-for-3, double, hit by pitch, 4 RBI), Faith Miller (1-for-2, walk, hit by pitch, 1 run, 1 RBI), Emmi Vance (1-for-3, walk, 2 runs, 1 RBI), Katelyn Chambliss (2-for-2, double, triple, walk, 2 run, 1 RBI), Carly Sanders (1-for-2, walk, 1 run, 1 RBI), Jaylie Duncan (0-for-0, walk, hit by pitch, 1 run, 1 RBI) and Kelsey Clark (1-for-1, triple).

Katelyn Chambliss (6-3) was the winning pitcher for Fairfield.  Her pitching line: three innings, four hits, one run, one earned run, one walk and five strikeouts. Rilee Quickle’s pitching line: two innings, no hits, no runs, no earned runs, no walks and three strikeouts.
