Southern State Community College has released its president's and dean's list for academic excellence for the summer quarter. To be eligible for the president's list, a student must maintain a 4.0 grade point average while carrying a minimum of 12 academic credit hours. Those who achieve the dean's list are also full-time students who have earned at least a 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0.
Principal Stephen Hackett of Fairfield Local High School has announced that Abigail Current has been named a Commended Student in the 2010 National Merit Scholarship Program.
The students and teachers in grades 6-12 in Hillsboro City Schools have been quietly making great academic strides. Both Hillsboro Middle School and Hillsboro High School earned Excellent ratings from the Ohio Department of Education for academic performance for the 2008-2009 school year. The state report card designates HMS Excellent for the first time and HHS Excellent for the second year in a row. HHS met all 12 indicators and earned a Performance Index Score of 100, while HMS not only met the expected growth for AYP but has exceeded it for the past three years.
