Whiteoak's Landen Eyre races to 3rd straight SHAC XC championship; Fairfield Lions win team trophy

Whiteoak’s Landen Eyre was the leader of the pack on Saturday (Oct. 14), as he was the winner for a third consecutive year at the Southern Hills Athletic Conference Championships, and the Fairfield Lions were the winners of the boys SHAC championship.

In the individual standings, the Whiteoak duo of the junior Eyre and senior Weston Blair were first and second place, with Eyre having a winning time of 15:47.20, and Blair having a second-place time of 16:50.40.

As for the Lions, they won the championship with freshman Ryan Smith finishing in fifth place at 17:41.20, along with having finishers in 10th through 13th places.

Those finishers were: Nolan Campbell (18:37.30), Zach Ahsaruk (18:41), Britton Campbell (18:53.00) and Caleb Rice (18:57.90).

In 18th place for the Lions was Connor Ayers at 19:19.50, and in 34th place for the Lions was Griffin Friend at 20:25.60. The 37th place finisher was Fairfield’s Mason Lightle at 20:32.50. Jordan Bennington was 40th place for FHS at 20:40.10. Other finishers for the Lions were: Greg Achterman in 73rd place (25:38.40) and in 74th place was Hayden Barrera (25:48.40).

As for Whiteoak, Auston Richards was 35th overall (20:27.70), followed by Jake Ward in 41st place (20:40.90). In 48th place was Shawn Mitchell-Cox (21:09.40), and in 64th place was Shane Mitchell-Cox (22:57.70).

As a team in the boys event, the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs were sixth place out of nine teams competing with a score of 145.

The top time for LCHS was a third-place finish by Kyler Fite, with a time of 17:14.30. LCHS had a second top 10 finisher, as Asher Faust was ninth place at 18:23.60.

Other LCHS finishers were: Caden Faust in 31st place (20:12.90), Aric Slack in 50th place (21:15.50) and Cayleb Watson in 79th place (27:08.40).

In the girls race, no team from Highland County had a full team to have a score.

Finishers for WHS included: Addy Hauke in seventh place (22:34.20) for a new PR, and Lexi Taylor in 36th place (28:41.70).

LCHS finishers were: Reese Ruble in 19th place (24:22.40), Destiny Reynolds in 28th place (26:37.10) and Claudia Etienne in 31st place (27:12.30).

Fairfield finishers were: Madelyn Wiseman in 22nd place (25:03.70), Campbell Anne Friend in 38th place (29:35.70), Emilia Roehm in 39th place (30:13.30) and Eleanore Warner in 40th place (30:24.20).
