McDERMITT — The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats are still looking for their first win of the season. Though they scored in double figures in two quarters on Monday, they were held to a combined 13 points in the first and third quarters for a 58-46 loss to the Northwest Lady Mohawks.
The non-league game started off with a big first quarter from Northwest, scoring 26 points in eight minutes, while holding WHS to eight.
The Lady 'Cats battled back in quarter No. 2 when they scored 19 points but allowed 13 points. WHS trailed 39-27 at halftime.
In the third frame, WHS (0-7) scored just five points, while allowing 16. WHS won the fourth frame, 14-3.
"We came out extremely flat," WHS head coach Mike Cooper said. "We did a good job in the second quarter to battle back and cut their lead to 12. But we had too many turnovers and gave up too many second-chance points.
"We are still working on our defense because we are giving up way too many open shots."
Haley Bingamon led WHS with 21 points, making five 3-pointers. Jessie Gilliland scored eight, followed by Lizz Carson, Brittany Waits and McKenzee Martin with four points each.
Lori Bratton scored three, and Bailey Walker netted two points.
