  • ODNR launches new website for accessing groundwater data in Ohio

    The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Geological Survey has released a new web-based application to help users monitor groundwater resources throughout Ohio. The software, called AQUARIUS, gives users the ability to view and download the Division of Geological Survey’s extensive collection of groundwater data from the state’s Groundwater Observation Well Network.
  • Ohio’s mineral resources valued at $1.7 billion in 2022
    A newly released report from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Geological Survey shows the state’s mineral resources produced $1.7 billion worth of geologic commodities in 2022. For a ninth straight year, the total value of all nonfuel industrial minerals exceeded $1 billion.
  • Trees to Textbooks invests more than $2.1M in local schools, communities

  • ODNR awards $266K to keep Ohio’s waterways clean
    In its mission to keep the state’s waterways clean, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) announced the grant funding of more than $266,000 to three organizations located along Lake Erie. The grants are funded by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Clean Vessel Act (CVA) with a 25-percent matching contribution from ODNR.
  • Scioto madtom declared extinct
    The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service recently declared the Scioto madtom, a fish native to Ohio, extinct, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. The Scioto madtom, a small, nocturnal species of catfish, was formerly found in a small section of Big Darby Creek, a tributary of the Scioto River.
  • ODNR teams up with area partners to expand Cooperrider-Kent Bog State Nature Preserve
    The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), with the help of the Ohio Valley Conservation Coalition and the Portage Park District, has expanded the Tom S. Cooperrider-Kent Bog State Nature Preserve to protect an additional 75 acres.

    Young hunters across Ohio harvested 10,039 white-tailed deer during the two-day youth season on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 18-19, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. Each fall, hunters 17 and younger can enjoy a weekend of deer gun hunting with a nonhunting adult before the statewide gun season begins.

  • Nonresident college students can purchase Ohio resident hunting, fishing licenses
    Nonresident students who do not reside in Ohio but are actively enrolled in an Ohio college or university can now purchase Ohio resident hunting and fishing licenses, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. The opportunity came after Governor Mike DeWine and the Ohio General Assembly approved the change in July.
  • ODNR: Support local food banks with donated venison through FHFH
    The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife is once again partnering with Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry (FHFH) to support local food banks with donated venison. Through this program, FHFH and participating processors donate harvested deer to charitable organizations throughout Ohio.
